Tried & Tested: Beautycoll Collagen Drink

Tried & Tested: Beautycoll Collagen Drink

Summer may be almost over, but my skin is still recovering from the change in temperature, humid air and extra UV radiation. I always notice a difference when we begin switching into the autumnal months, as my skin becomes a little drier, more sensitive and I develop a flush, rosy complexion.

This was my indication to try the Beautycoll collagen drink that has been taking centre page in the glossies. Beautycoll claims to slow down the ageing process, increase elasticity and boost hydration. so let's see what all the hype is about.

First up are the facts:

Beautycoll contains a mix of hyaluronic acid and a whopping 12,000mg of marine collagen. This alone already makes it one of the strongest collagen supplements available on the market to date. Thrown in for good measure is a nice dose of vitamins A and C, which have stabilising, and antioxidant properties.

The marine collagen is naturally sourced and comes from 100% real fish (believe it or not, some companies have it artificially made). The thought might put you off, but before you turn your nose up to drinking anything that's remotely connected to a fish, just remember many of your favourite sweets contain gelatine!Beautycoll comes in individual pocket size sachets, which are particularly handy if you're always on the go. All you need to do is add water, be it sparkling or still, whatever you prefer. Still struggling with the fish thing? Well FYI there is NO fishy smell. Other pre-mixed collagen drinks are already mixed with water, which causes the collagen to degrade and can leave a nasty odour. Mixing the sachets your self means the contents are kept freshly preserved for longer and, with a mixed berry flavouring, it can be quite addictive.

The verdict

After a 28 day course I have noticed small, subtle improvements in my skin. Overall my skin feels and looks hydrated. I have managed to escape the pre-winter peel which I normally have this time of year and I have had comments on my 'glowing' complexion. But by far the most surprising difference was in the growth and strength of my hair and nails. So much so that even my beautician and hairdresser pointed it out!In a clinical trial, 91% of women noticed an increase in overall skin moisture and who are we to argue with a woman. What you need to know:
  • Gluten free
  • Suitable for Shellfish allergy
  • It comes in 28, 56 and 84 day courses
