2020 Skincare Predictions
As 2019 draws to a close, we are looking at the skincare trends we predict will be big as we enter the start of a new decade. In the year when skincare became synonymous with self-care, the emphasis of active ingredients became even more important and at-home devices became more accessible, what lies ahead for skincare in 2020?
Skincare devices - LED light therapy
With celebrities such as Kourtney Kardashian and Victoria Beckham raving about the benefits of LED light therapy, there's no wonder there has been a surge in the popularity of at-home devices.
At Face the Future, we believe this rising popularity is only going to continue in 2020. With different wavelengths of light targeting different skin concerns, LED light therapy can be beneficial for most skin types.
LED light therapy is also a treatment we regularly recommend to our patients in-clinic to treat many skin types and concerns, including stimulating skin healing and the regeneration of cells, anti-ageing action thanks to collagen and elastin synthesis, as well as anti-bacterial healing for acneic skin. At-home devices allow you to bring the power of an in-clinic LED treatment to the comfort of your own home. Most recently we have added the Déesse LED Facial Mask and the LightStim LED Device for Wrinkles to our LED home device offering.
Déesse LED Facial Mask (the mask Kourtney can be seen wearing above) offers three light settings each with dual light intensity, helping to treat acne-prone skin, support collagen and elastin regeneration as well as cell regeneration to encourage wound healing.
LightStim LED Device for Wrinkles is a handheld device combining therapeutic light energy with patented technology to reduce and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Ingredients - Tranexamic Acid
Ok, so this one was included in our 2019 Skincare Predictions, however we think Tranexamic Acid is only going to get bigger in 2020. It's no surprise that depigmentation experts, Mesoestetic, were one of the first to utilise this hero ingredients with their Tran3x Intensive Depigmenting Concentrate and Tran3x Daily Depigmenting Gel Cream.
SkinCeuticals have now launched their very own Tranexamic Acid serum. Discoloration Defense Serum utilises the brightening power of not one, not two, but three innovative active ingredients: Tranexamic Acid, Niacinamide and HEPES. Innovation - Bacteria-based skincare
