How to Do a Lymphatic Facial Massage at Home

How to Do a Lymphatic Facial Massage at Home

If you're anything like us, you've probably been taking this time during lockdown to nurture your skin, try out new treatments and finally use that microneedling device you bought last year! But what if I told you that you could get glowing skin with just your hands, a little bit of facial oil and around 10-15 minutes of your time? Read on to find out more from our clinician, Claire

Check out the video below, where I demonstrate the simple steps so you can replicate a lymphatic facial massage at home. This massage technique helps to support the lymphatic system, reduce puffiness and encourage blood flow to skin's surface for a healthy and glowing complexion.

The benefits of facial massage

Facial massage has many benefits including boosting circulation, sinus and tension relief as well as bringing nutrients via the blood flow to skin, which increases the skin cell health. But I believe, the power of touch to be the most important, it has holistic health benefits and a proven stress relief - a must given the current situation we find ourselves in! It also stimulates the lymphatic system, which is responsible for ridding the body of toxins (we're thinking about all those extra trips to the fridge during lockdown) and any build up of fluids.A favourite in-clinic treatment of mine is the HydraFacial, which starts with lymphatic drainage to remove toxins, improve circulation, detoxify, tone and tighten skin. Did you know there are around 12 lymph nodes in the face and neck alone? So during lockdown and whilst we can't treat you in-clinic, I thought I'd show you how to do your very own lymphatic facial massage at home.https://www.instagram.com/p/CAVxcqRj_AF/

Facial oils to use

There's no right or wrong way to give yourself a facial massage, so don't worry too much about whether you did the right number of movements. I tend to do mine after a bath; I pop on some soothing music, light a candle and chose an oil. Here are my favourite three facial oils for a lymphatic facial massage at home.Omorovicza Miracle Facial Oil - A combination of precious oils hydrates and repairs skin's lipid matrix and provides antioxidant defence alongside a natural alternative to retinol to boost skin's collagen production.Medik8 Glow Oil - This lightweight, silky facial oil contains a blend of powerful antioxidants and essential oils for a youthful glow and radiant skin texture. An oil-soluble form of Vitamin C provides powerful antioxidant protection against environmental damage, as well as brightening the skin tone and stimulating the production of collagen. Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils restore skin to optimal levels of hydration and repair skin's protective barrier.Lumity Facial Oil - A moisturising and balancing oil with a potent and nourishing blend of 32 natural ingredients, skin-loving extracts, plant and essential oils for complete skin nourishment. Only the purest, natural plant oils and extracts go in to Lumity Facial Oil, with no toxic or synthetic ingredients.Have a go for yourself at home. Once a week is plenty, but trust me you will feel relaxed, calm and your skin will be glowing!
